REPORT ON THE JAGUEARS MATCH AGAINST FINCA GUILA

AT HOME 12TH DECEMBER 2019

What a way to start the festive season! Well done everyone for a fantastic result today. It was a pleasure to sit on the side and watch the bowling as everyone gave more than 100%.

We won 9 points to 1 with a shot difference of 73! Hopefully we have turned the corner and will continue our winning form in the New Year.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy and successful New Year.

REPORT ON BBC JAGUARS AWAY TO JAVEA GREEN OPALS

5TH DECEMBER 2019

After three days of rain it was with great relief that the Jags went to Javea Green to find the rinks in relatively good shape and very definitely playable. After half an hour the sun came out which made it a very pleasant morning for bowling.

On rink two, David Goodall, Mick Adams and John Ranger, after a slow start which saw them 7-0 down they clawed their way back to a 16/14 victory. Very well done.

Rink three, Christine and Derek Mawson with Richard Gardiner were up against stiff opposition and, unfortunately, lost out. Unfortunately this was Richard’s last game of the season as he is returning to UK later this week. He will be sorely missed.

Rink four, Ruth Meadows, Neville Allen and Alex Fisher, came up against another strong team skipped by a former BBC Tiger! The Jags team held the opposition to 12 all on the 11th end but succumbed to a stronger team.

Rink five, John and Lynn Avey ably skipped by Viv Erridge, after giving away five shots on the first end they fought their way back to win by 18 shots to 15.

The Challengers fought hard but just lost out on the last end by two shots but our friendly team managed to win.

Overall an excellent result against very strong opposition – well done everyone. The Jags are definitely showing that they are no ‘push over’ this year – let’s keep up our new reputation!

REPORT ON THE JAGUARS GAME AGAINST CALPE

25TH NOVEMBER 2019

‘Oh what a beautiful morning’ – well it was at 9.30 but an hour later the sun was still shining but the bowling was not quite living up to expectations! We were down on all rinks and finding the going difficult to say the least.

Never mind, we stuck with it and two of our teams managed to claw their way back. Derek Mawson, Christine and Richard Gardiner fought hard and managed to draw 12 at the start of the last end. Unfortunately, their skip managed to find his way onto the jack for a final score of 13/12.

On rink three John Ranger, Neville Allen and Ruth Meadows were trailing for most of the game before getting a five on one end to bring them up to within four points. By the beginning of the final end the scores were level at 15 all and Jags were holding three shots before Calpe skip came in with the winning wood.

Disappointing but overall everyone gave 100% and we were basically outbowled by Calpe on their home green.

Our next game is away to Javea Green Opals on Thursday 5th December when we will hopefully be able to take a friendly team with us. Well done everyone today.

Terry

REPORT ON JAGS GAME AGAINST EL CID

21ST NOVEMBER 2019

The sun shone, it was not too cold and everyone enjoyed the bowling. Jags won on two of the rinks and lost on the other two with the Challengers winning decisively.

The shot difference overall with one rink still to finish was 78 to 77 in favour of the Jags. The team of Ruth Meadows, Neville Allen and John Ranger were three shots down when John played his last wood and managed to take the jack to great applause and relief! This gave the Jags a result of 6points to 4.

The other highlight was on rink one where Viv Erridge, Lynn Avey and David Goodall (very successfully standing in for John Avey) managed to get a HOT SHOT!!! Well done everyone.

REPORT ON THE JAGUARS MATCH 14/10/2019

BBC Jaguars we’re away to the Lions today in what turned out to be a tough but friendly match partially played in the rain. After a promising start the Jags finally succumbed to a stronger Lions squad with the exception of Christine and Derek Mawson ably supported by Richard Gardiner. There was a very close game on rink two where the Lions skip, Dudley Davies, snatched victory 19/18. Despite defeat the future for the Jaguars looks promising with all games being strongly contested including the winning friendly team. The final score was 8/2 to the Lions with a shot difference of 10.
